I remember a photographer speaking at my first year at WPPI saying the following in regards to why not every wedding photographer is “successful”:
“90% of photographers are still emotionally invested in their work…10% see photography as a business…”
I remember leaving that hall disgusted hoping that my heart would never shift and become so cold while pursuing a career as a photographer. Fast forward to today and I’m glad I didn’t take this speaker’s advice or else I would not have enjoyed Julia & Mike’s Terranea Resort wedding as much as I had.
There are countless moments from this wedding that I will always remember. For one, my second shooter that day, Daniel Cruz, ended up teaching all of the guys the Wu-Tang handshake. You’ll understand why as you scroll through the post.
One moment in particular that I will always cherish was during their ceremony- butterflies were released in honor/memory of Julia’s parents whom had passed away. Moments later while photographing the last couple of family portraits, a butterfly returned and landed on Julia’s bouquet. My words will not do it justice to describe what everyone felt at that moment, but I can say I am honored to have witnessed such a joy take place and to capture it in these photographs.
Without further ado, I’m proud to present to you Julia & Mike’s Palos Verdes Terranea Resort Wedding! Enjoy!
